Jamie Tainton

Jamie Tainton is the founder and director of Water Studio. She holds Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV) status, and a Bachelor of Science and Engineering (Honours) from Monash University.

Background

Over twenty years across local government capital works, land development, Melbourne Water programs and integrated water management. Previous roles include Storm Consulting and Millar Merrigan, with built work across the Shire of Yarra Ranges, City of Darebin, City of Stonnington and Development Victoria.

That history matters on current projects. Several of the assets Jamie designed are now fifteen or twenty years in the ground, which means the design decisions can be judged against how they actually performed rather than how they modelled.

Industry roles

Past President of Stormwater Industry Association Victoria. Current Vice President of ALDE, where Jamie leads the Main Drainage subcommittee and chairs the 2026 ALDE Conference in Melbourne. Founding member of the Victorian Urban Drainage Manual Technical Group.

More detail on these roles is on the Board Roles page.
