Water Authorities

Water Studio has worked on Melbourne Water programs for the better part of two decades, on catchment scale initiatives and on individual treatment assets delivered jointly with councils.

Programs and catchment work

Long involvement with the Liveable Communities Liveable Waterways program, previously the Rural Lands Program, working with landholders from horticulture through to grazing on practical water management outcomes.

Joint projects with councils

Treatment assets delivered as joint projects between an authority and a council, where the funding, the approvals and the eventual maintenance responsibility all sit in different places. The South Yarra urban wetlands were delivered this way, funded under Melbourne Water’s Living Rivers program with the City of Stonnington.

Monitoring and outcomes

Work with the University of Melbourne on monitoring initiatives, from the Little Stringybark Creek project through to passively irrigated street trees, testing whether assets perform the way the design intended.
