Jamie has been an active contributor to the Victorian water and drainage industry for over two decades, not just as a practitioner, but as someone who has consistently given time and energy to raising the bar across the profession.
Association of Land Development Engineers
Jamie was elected President of the Association of Land Development Engineers (ALDE) at the association’s 32nd Annual General Meeting in September 2026, taking over from Anthony Grodzki after his three years in the role. Before that, Jamie was Vice President, led the Main Drainage subcommittee, and was Conference Chair for both the 2024 ALDE Conference in Lorne and the 2026 ALDE Conference in Melbourne.
ALDE was formed in 1994 and has built something many industry bodies never manage: genuine reach across the whole land development supply chain. In more than thirty years it had not had a female President. As Jamie put it to members, “It does now. What I am more interested in is what we do with the next thirty.”
Jamie’s presidency has two priorities. The first is advocacy. When ALDE speaks, the people who set the rules should want to hear from it, because the association brings evidence and the practical consequences of decisions that look reasonable on paper. The second is the association’s own processes. Members who give up their evenings for ALDE should be spending that time on submissions, standards and the issues that affect the whole industry, not on chasing forms and approvals.
Stormwater Victoria
Jamie served on the committee of the Stormwater Industry Association Victoria for many years, ultimately serving as President. That association has been a platform for presenting research, contributing to policy discussions, and connecting practitioners across the state.
Victorian Urban Drainage Manual
Jamie is a founding member of the Victorian Urban Drainage Manual (VUDM) Technical Group and now sits on the VUDM Governance Committee. With the first chapters of the updated manual starting to be released, Jamie is driving what the document needs in its next evolution, so that the guidance practitioners and councils across Victoria rely on every day continues to serve them well.
